Cycling Clothing Long

Beautiful winter cycling jacket, very lightly used. Fabric completely intact with no visibly conspicuous or significant flaws. Close inspection with the most extreme scrutiny may find two or three very tiny, very faint spots or stains Naturally elastic knit collar, hem and cuffs have World Champion stripes (minus the usual black stripe in the middle). With all the wonderful properties of wool, including excellent wicking, quick drying, and non-odor-retaining. Campagnolo lettering is navy blue and embossed in an embroidery like flocking (soft raised fabric). Has been carefully stored in cedar chest. Long sleeve, traditional styling, with two zippered pockets in back. Inside of front shell has a soft, baby terry-cloth-like fabric liner, which part I think is not wool (and don’t know exactly what it is). This “Size 1″ seems generously cut — that should usually be an American extra small, but it seems closer to a small, especially if not worn with additional, thick, under layers. I’d say in typical’American’ sizing (which runs a bit larger than European) it would be most accurate to class it as a extra small men’s or small women’s. The following dimensions are approximate, but are very close. All measurements were taken with the jacket laid out flat but (unless noted) not while extending or stretching it, and do NOT account for the considerable elasticity of the material, and would be up to several inches more. Front of jersey is 24-3/4 long (or tall) from top of zipped collar to bottom of hem, measured in the center. Sides are 16 long, measured from sleeve seam at armpit to bottom of hem. Shoulder-to-shoulder seams at the top are about 15 from one to another. Sleeve length armpit to end of sleeve (lower measurement) is 20. Sleeve length, shoulder to cuff (upper measurement) is 22-1/4″, and includes cuff length of 4″ when not rolled or folded. The back is 26-1/4 long from top of collar to bottom of hem. 21″ wide across from one armpit seam to another; same dimension on back side; with gradual tapering and increasing elasticity going down to the bottom hem–which is also 21″ if fully stretched, but only 12 when not stretched, which makes for a nice fit that won’t flap around in the wind. Neck opening with zipper fully closed is about 6″, readily stretching up to 10″ or more (not circumference, but diameter). Zipper is full length nylon with metal zipper slider, in excellent condition. Pockets are about 6 deep with zippers each 5-1/4 wide, both excellent. Each pocket interior is 8-1/2 wide. Giordana was created in 1979 and started by manufacturing wool cycling apparel for riders and professional racers that was handmade in Italy. Products included in-line clothing while the company simultaneously worked with the biggest American teams and events of the day. A list that included Raleigh/Kretschmer Wheat Germ, which evolved into Levi’s/Pinarello, Bud Light, Dia-Compe/Aspen Velo, the US PRO Championships and numerous others. This involvement with elite athletes provided invaluable feedback that insured the clothing met the needs of American enthusiasts yet retained the authenticity of true Italian race wear. The wool jerseys that Giordana first produced were branded with a Giordana Sport tag. This garment label was sewn upside down on the underside of the hem around the waist. As the rider would go into a racing position, the hem would flip up due to the characteristics of the wool fabric, and show the now right-side-up Giordana Sport tag. In the early days, this was a subtle way to advertise the clothing brand as the rider raised their hands in victory over the finish line. Over the next few years Giordana Sport tags were still placed on the inside of the wool jerseys while the name was simply, Giordana. Giordana cycling apparel embraced the new technologies available in the textile industry to become a leader in sublimation printing, the testing of new materials, and developing new products. The wool jerseys of the past made way for new and improved fabrics making the Giordana Sport tag a thing of the past.
